Red Riding Hood

"Super-Good!"

submission: Red Riding Hood
date: March 20, 2006

I know you're probably--no, I'm sure you're a professional animator, so I'll save the "oooohs" and "aaaaahs" about the amazing graphics/visuals. The story, so one-sidedly sinister in your rendition, was great, particularly since you play upon the fact that to the end, we all expect some kind of moral retribution for Red Riding-hood to prevail. The fairy-tale ending is so strongly embedded in the psyche, your all-dark depiction of it works wonderfully. I also emensely enjoyed the voluminous vampire imagery--its a pretty obvious part of the original too, but after Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it just makes sense that sinister servants of satan like the wolf would have such unredemable episodes of pure evil in their past. Keep up the good work. H-Dawg, out.

Whoa! That was like one of those tragic, girl-disses-boy songs by Cake. I loved it!! And what a novel approach to the graphics! /HD

"Terrific! Instant Classic!"

This high-quality, irreverent series should be a TV program on Comedy Central (for you Brits, that's an american specialty program that most NAmericans get as part of regular cable). Fantastic! Please keep this series going on Newgrounds, if not on a tele somewhere soon. /HDawg out.

"Graphics + Storytelling -"

submission: littleFoot
date: November 25, 2005

All of your work strikes me, so far, as kinda "Disney." There is no edge to the storytelling, only fluffy, (middle-class nuclear) family-oriented fare for 5 year-olds. Stunning graphics!! But I think if you give only a superficial scan of some of the edgier flash art on this site - say, salad fingers, or even ill will press's stuff, even though its going a bit more for the titilation factor these days than its always biting social commentaries - you will hopefully see what I mean. Another good example of such edgy artwork, not from a flash artist, is Seth, a cartoonist whose Palookaville is published by Drawn and Quarterly. Also look at Joe Matt's work. Hope this helps. Best, H-Dawg.

"FANTASTIC"

date: June 17, 2005

I hope this movie puts to rest the (in my opinion) absolute baseless and ass-hat prejudice against the clock crew and its movies. Quality movies such as this one only prove how valuable such a truly "cult" phenomenon like the clock crew are to the credibility of a site like newgrounds. Thanks, Tom, for disregarding all the bullshit and consistently bringing the clock crew to the front-page and prominence on the site.

Merry Melony ep.1

"Terrific!!"

submission: Merry Melony ep.1

The artwork/animation was, as another reviewer said, simply stunning. I loved the way your story urbanized the crazy, topsy-turvey world of Alice in Wonderland. I thought your treatment of it, almost as a purgatory somewhere between life and death instead of a more innocent drug-induced day-dream, was inspired. The perspectivism - the girl's, as well as the crazy camera angles that defy the viewer's ability to perceive the "reality" of her physical world - was well done. I look forward to the next instalments!!

It's no Salad Fingers. I absolutely love the graphics and style - you guys are obviously major-league animators with alot of crativity. Like the last one, however, the story is too tame. In fact, without the wonderful animation, the story is kinda boring. Look to Salad Fingers for the cutting edge in character development and story-telling, even if you guys have the "flash" technique prize tied up. overall, good job. But get some childhood trauma or something and improve the stories. Best, H-Dawg.
